Why I stopped treating day trading like a get-rich-quick scheme (and started treating it like therapy)
Two years ago I was the guy revenge-trading at 2pm after a red morning, blowing up accounts because I couldn't sit with a loss. The market didn't fix that. Discipline did.
Here's the thing nobody tells you when you start trading: the P&L is just a scoreboard for your habits. Bad sleep, no routine, no pre-trade checklist, no post-trade review — it all shows up in your fills eventually. You can't out-strategy a lack of discipline.
So I flipped the model. Instead of chasing setups, I started treating trading like a daily discipline practice — same wake time, same pre-market checklist, same max-loss rule, no exceptions. The trading got better as a side effect of getting myself better.
That's the whole idea behind what I'm building at The Fire Pit: Monday–Friday we're in the market together — live breakdowns, trade reviews, real accountability. Weekends are for the deeper work — psychology, risk frameworks, routines — the stuff that actually moves the needle long-term.
If you've ever felt like your trading results are just a mirror of your habits, you're not wrong. Fix the habits first.
