The first date should be shorter than you think

Most guys overbuild the first date. Dinner. A plan. A reservation they cannot leave without looking like they are running.

That is why they freeze. Too much weight on a person they have not even met.

A first date has one job: find out if you want a second one.

45 to 90 minutes. Public. Easy to talk. Easy to leave.

Coffee. A walk. A bar with seats. Not a movie. Not a tasting menu.

If it is going well, you can always extend it. If it is not, you are not trapped.

And when it is time to go, leave while it is still good. "This was actually fun. Thursday work?" Then stop talking.

The men who get date two are not the ones who performed the hardest. They are the ones who made it easy.

That is the whole system.

The first message is not a personality test

Most men lose the conversation before it starts because they try to be interesting. Interesting is later. The first message has one job: make it easy to reply.

Three rules:

  1. Comment on something specific you can actually see.

  2. Ask a question that isn't "how are you."

  3. Send it in under 30 seconds. Edit once, not five times.

If she can answer in one line, you did it right.

That's the whole game at the start. Everything else is follow-up.
