The real bottleneck in content teams isn't ideas — it's handoffs
I've spent the last stretch building a content ops platform, and the thing that surprised me most is that almost nobody has an "idea" problem. Creators, agencies, and in-house teams all have more ideas than they can execute.
The actual bottleneck is the handoff between stages: an idea sits in a Notion doc, production status lives in a Slack thread, and the final asset gets buried in a Drive folder nobody checks. Every handoff is a place where things get lost, forgotten, or shipped late.
A few patterns I've noticed talking to solo creators and small teams:
Solo creators lose momentum because there's no single place tracking "idea → scripted → filmed → edited → posted." They end up re-deciding what to work on every morning instead of just working the pipeline.
Agency teams lose time in status meetings that exist purely because production visibility isn't shared — the meeting is a manual sync for what a shared board should show automatically.
In-house teams at growing companies (5-50 people) hit a wall when content requests start coming from multiple departments and there's no intake system — everything becomes an ad hoc Slack DM to whoever's free.
The fix isn't more tools — it's fewer, connected ones. If ideation, production, and delivery share one system of record, the handoff friction mostly disappears.
Curious how others here are managing this — still living in a mix of Notion + Trello + Drive, or has anyone found a setup that actually holds together as the team grows?
