The 3 mistakes every beginner makes in the gym (and how to fix them)
Been coaching beginners for a while now. Same 3 mistakes every time:
1. No progressive overload plan.
You walk into the gym, pick random weights, and do random reps. Your body has zero reason to grow. Fix: track every set, every rep, every weight. Add 2.5-5lbs per week on compounds. That's it.
2. Eating like a bird and expecting to look like a bodybuilder.
You can't build a house without bricks. If you're 160lbs and want to be 185, you need to eat. Start with bodyweight x 16 in calories. Get 1g protein per lb of bodyweight. Simple.
3. Program hopping every 2 weeks.
You saw a new "optimal" split on TikTok. Cool. It doesn't matter. What matters is consistency on ANY decent program for 8+ weeks. Stimulus, recovery, adaptation. That takes time.
If any of this sounds like you — that's exactly why I built The Gains Lab. Structured programs, nutrition guidance, and a community of lifters who actually show up.
Stop guessing. Start growing.
