The 5 AM myth ruined my mornings — here's what actually works

I tried waking up at 5 AM for 90 days straight. Influencers swore it would "change my life." It didn't.

What actually changed my life was building a morning that works for MY body and MY schedule. Not someone else's highlight reel.

Here's the framework I use now:

1. Anchor habit first. Pick ONE non-negotiable that takes under 5 minutes. Mine is journaling 3 things I'm grateful for. Not a full routine — just one anchor.

2. Move your body before your phone. Doesn't have to be a gym session. 10 minutes of stretching, a walk around the block, dancing in your kitchen. Just move before you scroll.

3. Front-load your hardest task. Whatever you've been avoiding? Do 25 minutes of it before anything else. The relief alone changes your entire day.

4. Kill the "perfect morning" fantasy. Bad days happen. The goal isn't perfection — it's showing up more days than you don't.

I built The Grind Lab because I got tired of self-improvement advice that was made for men, by men, about men. Women in their 20s and 30s face different pressures, different schedules, different expectations.

If that resonates, come through. We're building something real.

The 3 Mistakes Killing Your Gains (And What to Do Instead)

I've been training for years and coaching people through their transformations. These are the 3 mistakes I see destroy progress over and over:

1. Program hopping every 2 weeks

You saw a new split on TikTok? Cool. But switching programs before you've given one time to work is the fastest way to stay exactly where you are. Pick a proven program and run it for 8-12 weeks minimum. Progressive overload doesn't happen in a week.

2. Eating "clean" but not enough

You can eat chicken and rice all day — if you're not in a surplus, you're not growing. And if you're cutting but eyeballing portions, you're probably not in a deficit either. Track your food for at least 2 weeks. The numbers don't lie.

3. Skipping the boring stuff

Sleep. Water. Stretching. Recovery. Nobody posts about these, but they're the difference between the person who looks the same year after year and the person who actually transforms.

The fix is simple — not easy, but simple. Pick one program, track your nutrition, and take recovery seriously.

I built The Grind Lab to help people cut through the noise and actually get results. Workout plans, nutrition guides, coaching, and a community that holds you accountable.
