Why most sports bettors lose money (and how to actually think about picks)

Most people treat sports betting like a slot machine. Random parlays, chasing losses, betting the over because "it feels right."

3 things I've learned from years in the trenches:


  1. Unit sizing matters more than your pick. If you're throwing your whole bankroll on one play, variance will eat you alive.


  1. Line shopping is free money. If you're not checking at least 3 books before placing, you're leaving edge on the table.


  1. Parlays are entertainment, not strategy. I love a degen parlay as much as anyone, but your core plays should be singles or 2-legs max.
