The caption isn't the problem. Line one is.

Most Instagram posts die in the first line.


People write the caption they wish they could say, then hide the actual hook in paragraph three. By then the scroll already won.


A hook has one job: make someone stop. Not "I'm so excited to share." That's a throat-clear.


Try one of these instead:

  • Call out the mistake they're making

  • Promise a specific result with a number

  • Say the thing they're thinking but won't post


Then the rest of the caption can be normal.


If you can't write the first line in 10 seconds, you don't have a hook yet. Write 10 first lines. Pick the meanest one. Write the caption under it.


That's the whole system. A month of those, plus a calendar, is how you stop opening the app with a blank box.
