The 4-step objection framework that stopped me from freezing on sales calls
Early on, every objection felt like a wall. "Let me think about it" or "it's too expensive" would just end the call in my head, even if I kept talking.
What changed things was forcing every objection through the same 4 steps, no exceptions:
1. Acknowledge — Don't argue, don't pitch. "Totally fair, a lot of people ask that."
2. Clarify — Most objections are vague. Ask what's actually behind it. "When you say too expensive, is it the price itself or the timing?"
3. Respond — Now you're answering the real objection, not the surface one.
4. Advance — Always end by moving the conversation forward, not just resolving the objection. "Given that, does it make sense to lock in a start date?"
The framework doesn't make objections disappear. It just stops you from panicking and winging it — which is where most deals actually die.
