The #1 mistake white belts make when learning submissions

Most white belts obsess over learning new submissions. They watch a YouTube video on a darce choke, try it once in sparring, fail, and move on to the next shiny technique.

Here's the problem: you're collecting moves, not building a game.

The best grapplers at every level aren't the ones who know 200 techniques. They're the ones who have 5-6 techniques they can hit from anywhere, against anyone.

Here's what actually works:

1. Pick one submission chain — not a single sub, a CHAIN. Example: closed guard → hip bump sweep → mount → cross collar → armbar. That's 4 connected techniques that flow into each other.

2. Drill that chain 100 times before sparring — not 10, not 20. One hundred. Your body needs to move without thinking.

3. Only spar from positions in your chain — start every roll from closed guard. Don't let yourself play half guard this week. Constraint breeds creativity.

4. After 2 weeks, add one branch — maybe your opponent defends the cross collar, so you transition to an ezekiel. Now your chain has a decision tree.

This is how blue belts start tapping purples. It's not about talent — it's about having a system.

I built Submission Blueprint around this exact framework. Every module is a complete chain, not random techniques. If you're tired of collecting moves and never finishing, this is for you.

Welcome to Submission Blueprint 🤙

Welcome in. You just made the best investment in your BJJ game.

Here's how to get the most out of this:

1. Start with the course — the BJJ Fundamentals Course is structured to build on itself. Don't skip around (yet).

2. Hit the Training Partners chat — this is your new training room. Ask questions, share rolls, get feedback from the community.

3. Check Updates & Drills regularly — I'll be dropping new technique breakdowns, drilling sequences, and competition prep tips here.

This isn't just a course — it's a system. Trust the process, drill with intent, and you'll start catching people who've been training twice as long.

Let's get to work. Drop your belt rank and top game in the chat so we know who's in the room. 👊
