I've been practicing yoga for years, and I made every beginner mistake in the book. Here's what would've saved me months of frustration:
1. Flexibility is the result, not the requirement. You don't need to touch your toes to start. That's literally what yoga teaches you.
2. Your breath matters more than your pose. A "perfect" pose with held breath is worse than a messy pose with steady breathing. Always.
3. 10 minutes beats 0 minutes. You don't need an hour-long session. A short daily practice builds more habit than a weekly marathon.
4. Comparison will kill your practice. The person next to you has been doing this for 3 years. You've been doing it for 3 days. Stop comparing.
5. Soreness is normal. Pain is not. Learn the difference early. If something hurts, back off. Yoga should never cause sharp pain.
I built The Yoga Circle specifically for beginners who want real guidance without the intimidation. If this resonates, come check it out.
