Why most beginners quit yoga in the first 2 weeks (and how to not be one of them)

I've coached yoga for years, and the pattern is always the same: someone shows up hyped, does 2-3 classes, then disappears. Not because yoga doesn't work — because of three specific mistakes:

1. They compare themselves to the person next to them. In a room full of strangers who've been practicing for years, a beginner's nervous system reads that as threat, not inspiration. This is exactly why online, coached environments work better for beginners — you're not competing, you're building your own baseline.

2. They skip the boring stuff. Breathing mechanics and alignment aren't glamorous, but they're the entire game. Skip them and you plateau fast, or worse, get hurt.

3. They have no one checking in on them. Motivation fades. Accountability doesn't. The single biggest predictor of whether someone sticks with yoga past 30 days is whether another human is tracking their progress with them.

That's the whole reason I built The Yoga Studio Live — 1-on-1 coaching plus live group classes, made specifically for people who are intimidated by studios or have tried and quit before. No judgment, just structure and support.

If you've quit yoga before, I'd genuinely like to know why — drop it in the comments.
