Why most content creators fail at podcasting (and how to avoid it)

I've seen dozens of creators — YouTubers, bloggers, social media personalities — launch podcasts that die within 10 episodes. Here's the pattern:

They treat podcasting like another content format. Record, upload, hope for downloads. That's not how audio works.

Podcasting rewards consistency and intimacy. Your listeners are commuting, working out, doing dishes. They're giving you their ears for 30-60 minutes. That's a deeper relationship than any 15-second reel will ever create.

The creators who succeed in audio do three things differently:

  1. They niche down harder than they think they should. "Marketing tips" won't cut it. "Email marketing for Shopify stores doing $10K-$50K/mo" will.

  1. They build a guest pipeline before they launch. Your first 10 guests should be booked before episode 1 goes live. This gives you a content runway and built-in promotion from every guest's audience.

  1. They monetize from day one. Not with ads — with a community. Even 20 listeners who pay $29/mo for behind-the-scenes access and direct Q&A is $580/mo in recurring revenue. That compounds.

I built TheRiwaya to help content creators make this transition without the trial-and-error. If you're thinking about starting a podcast or your show isn't gaining traction, come check it out.
