The #1 mistake new traders make (and how to avoid it)

Most new traders blow up their account within the first 3 months. Not because they picked the wrong stocks or timed the market badly — but because they never had a system.

They trade on emotion. They chase green candles. They revenge trade after a loss. Sound familiar?

Here's what actually works:

1. Risk management first, profits second. Never risk more than 1-2% of your account on a single trade. This one rule alone will keep you in the game long enough to actually learn.

2. Have a thesis before you enter. "It looks like it's going up" is not a thesis. Know your entry, your target, and your stop loss before you click buy.

3. Journal everything. Screenshot your trades. Write down why you entered and exited. Review weekly. The patterns in your own behavior will teach you more than any course.

4. Ignore the noise. Twitter, Reddit, Discord pump groups — most of it is people gambling, not trading. Find a community of traders who actually show their process, not just their wins.

I built ThriveFin because I wish I had this when I started. We break down real trades across stocks, crypto, and forex — the wins AND the losses. No cherry-picked screenshots.

If you're serious about learning to trade, not just gamble — come through.
