Why we built Tidewear around 'the wait after it'

Most swimwear brands sell you the five minutes you're actually in the water. We built Tidewear around the six hours after — drying off, walking the boardwalk, the pool bar, the golden hour photos. That's where a print actually needs to hold up, not fade, not sag, not look like everyone else's.

We're starting small: one drop at a time, bold prints, limited runs so it never feels like everyone's wearing the same thing. If you want first access before drops go public, that's what Tidewear Insiders is for.

Curious what other boardwalk/beach brands people here think are actually doing prints well right now — drop names below.

Why we're doing small-batch swimwear drops instead of a full catalog

Most swimwear brands try to stock every size, every print, all season — then sit on dead inventory by August. We're doing the opposite with Tidewear: small, limited drops (VIP Drop is the first one), sized and printed based on what our community actually wants to see.

The tradeoff is real — if a print sells out, it's gone, no restock promises. But it means we're not cutting corners on fabric or fit to hit a price point, and the people who show up early get first pick every time.

If you're building a physical product brand on here: talk to your first 20 buyers before you scale production. It's saved us from guessing on prints twice already.

Why I built Tidewear around 'the wait after it' instead of the swim itself

Most swimwear brands sell you the 30 minutes you're actually in the water. Nobody designs for the other 5 hours — dripping on a towel, walking back to the car, sitting through lunch still damp.

That gap is the whole thesis behind Tidewear. Quick-dry fabric that doesn't cling once you're out, cuts that don't chafe when you're sitting instead of swimming, and a color palette that doesn't look washed out the second it's not wet.

Two ways in right now:

  • Tidewear Insiders ($15/mo) — early access to every drop before it's public, a standing discount, and a direct line to me for what to make next.

  • Tidewear VIP Drop — the first limited release, one-time, gone when it sells out.

If you've ever bought swimwear that was great for the pool and useless for the rest of the day, I built this for you. Happy to answer questions on fabric, sizing, or the roadmap in the comments.
