Most people who get into exotic animal ownership make the same three mistakes in their first 6 months. I've seen it hundreds of times.

1. Treating training like obedience school

Tigers aren't dogs. Positive reinforcement works, but the framework is completely different. You're building a relationship with a 400-pound apex predator — respect and boundaries come before tricks.

2. Skipping the environmental setup

Training starts before you ever give a command. If your enclosure isn't set up to create natural behavioral patterns, you're fighting against instinct instead of working with it.

3. Training alone

This isn't a solo sport. You need a community of people who understand the reality of working with big cats — not internet commentators who've never been in an enclosure.
