Been clipping TikTok content for a while now and these are the 3 patterns I see in every viral clip:

1. The hook is under 1.5 seconds. Not 3 seconds. Not 2. The clips that break 1M views almost always have a visual or audio hook in the first second and a half. Think: unexpected visual, loud reaction, or a statement that creates instant curiosity.

2. The clip tells a micro-story. Most beginners just cut the "best part" of a video. But the clips that actually perform have a setup → tension → payoff arc, even if it's only 15 seconds long. You need context. A punchline without a setup is just noise.

3. Strategic sound selection. Using trending sounds is obvious. What's not obvious is timing — the best clippers match their cut points to the beat drops or transitions in the sound. It feels seamless and the algorithm notices watch-through rates spike.
