I saved $2,400 on software last year. Here's the framework I use.

Most freelancers and side hustlers are bleeding money on tools they don't need — or paying full price for tools that have hidden discounts.

After years of testing hundreds of SaaS products, I developed a simple 3-step framework:

1. The "Do I Actually Use This?" Audit

Open your bank statement. Find every subscription. If you haven't opened it in 2 weeks, cancel it. Most people save $50-100/month just from this.

2. The Stack Swap

For every tool you keep, ask: is there a cheaper alternative that does 90% of what this does? Usually yes. Notion → Obsidian (free). Canva Pro → sometimes the free tier is enough. Premium email tools → Brevo free tier handles 300 emails/day.

3. The Deal Layer

This is the part most people miss. Almost every SaaS tool has lifetime deals, annual discounts, or promo windows that aren't advertised. AppSumo, deal forums, and direct outreach to founders can cut costs 50-80%.

I do this research every single week and share the best finds with my ToolStack Pro members — the tools I'd actually pay for, with the best deals I can find.

If you're a freelancer or side hustler tired of overpaying, come see what I've been stacking up.
