The 3 things most traders get wrong about risk management
I've been trading futures and forex for years. Most people who blow up their accounts make the same three mistakes.
1. Position sizing based on emotion, not math.
You should never risk more than 1-2% of your account on a single trade. Period. If your account is $25k, your max loss per trade is $250-$500. Most people eyeball it, get aggressive after a win streak, and give it all back.
2. Moving stop-losses.
"Just a little more room" is the most expensive sentence in trading. Your stop is your stop. If the thesis is invalidated, you're out. Widening stops turns a small loss into a catastrophic one.
3. No daily loss limit.
After two consecutive losses, most traders go on tilt. Set a hard daily max loss — when you hit it, you're done for the day. Come back tomorrow with a clear head.
These three rules alone would save 90% of blown accounts. They're simple but almost nobody follows them consistently.
I built Apex Trader Syndicate around this discipline. Every alert comes with exact entry, TP, and SL zones. No guessing, no emotion. If that sounds like what you need, the link is on my page.
