Most traders lose money because they skip the basics. Every. Single. Time.

Before I enter any position — doesn't matter if it's a 5-minute scalp or a swing trade — I check three things:

1. Volume confirmation

Price moving without volume is a trap. If I see a breakout on thin volume, I'm out. Real moves have real participation behind them.

2. Key levels from the higher timeframe

I don't care what the 1-minute chart says if the daily is screaming resistance. Always zoom out before you zoom in.

3. Risk/reward ratio

If I can't get at least 2:1, I pass. Discipline beats conviction. The market will always give you another setup.

Simple? Yes. But 90% of traders don't do it consistently.
