When I was under 10k followers, I thought the plan was: post more, post consistently, wait for the algorithm to notice me.

That's half the equation. The other half — the one nobody talks about — is getting real feedback BEFORE you post, not after.

Most creators only get feedback from the algorithm (views, likes, comments) — which is slow, noisy, and doesn't tell you WHY something did or didn't work. By the time you have data, you've already moved on to the next post.

What actually moved the needle for me:

1. Showing drafts to 2-3 people who understand the space BEFORE publishing — not just friends, people who'd give honest critique.

2. Asking specific questions instead of "what do you think" — e.g. "does the hook grab you in the first second" or "is this thumbnail readable at small size."

3. Doing this consistently turned months of trial-and-error into weeks.

Same goes for designers — a second set of eyes on a logo or layout before you send it to a client catches things you go blind to after staring at it for 6 hours straight.

If you're early-stage and don't have that loop yet, that's the single highest-leverage thing to go build — whether that's a few peers, a mentor, or a community built around exactly that.
