Why most startup landing pages fail (and how to fix yours in 30 minutes)
I've designed landing pages for dozens of startups. The same mistakes show up every time:
1. Too many CTAs. Your page should have ONE job. If you're asking visitors to sign up, book a demo, follow you on Twitter, AND read your blog — you're losing conversions.
2. The hero says nothing. "We're revolutionizing the future of X" tells me nothing. Your hero should answer: what does this do, who is it for, and why should I care? In that order.
3. No social proof above the fold. Logos, testimonials, or even "500+ teams use this" — something that says "other people trust this" before the scroll.
4. Walls of text. If your feature section reads like a whitepaper, nobody's reading it. Use visuals. Show the product. Screenshots > paragraphs.
5. The design looks like a template. Because it IS a template. Custom design isn't about aesthetics — it's about trust. If your page looks generic, your product feels generic.
Quick fix: pick the #1 action you want visitors to take. Remove everything that doesn't support that action. Add one piece of social proof above the fold. Done — you'll see a lift.
If you want a team handling all of this for you on repeat, that's what we do at Zyad Design Co.
