5 things destroying your car's paint (and how to fix them for cheap)
Your car's paint is under attack every single day. Here's what's doing the damage โ and what you can do about it without spending thousands.
1. Bird droppings left for more than 24 hours
Bird poop is acidic. Leave it on for a day and it starts eating through the clear coat. Keep a microfibre cloth and spray bottle in the car. Wipe it off same day.
2. Washing with dish soap
Dish soap strips the wax right off your paint. Use proper car wash soap โ it's R50-R80 and lasts months.
3. Sun damage from parking without cover
UV rays fade paint over time. If you can't park in shade, a basic wax every 2-3 months makes a massive difference.
4. Dirty rags and sponges
That old rag from the garage? It's full of micro-particles that scratch your paint. Use a clean microfibre mitt every time.
5. Going too long between washes
Dust, brake dust, tree sap โ it all builds up and bonds to the paint. A regular wash schedule prevents 90% of long-term damage.
