The reason your course isn't finished has nothing to do with your content

I've watched dozens of course creators hit the same wall.

They know their topic cold. Their outline is solid. They've even recorded a few lessons. But the course never ships.

The usual advice is "just do it" or "lower your standards." That's not the problem.

The problem is recording order.

Most creators start with Lesson 1 โ€” the introduction. It's the hardest lesson to record because you're explaining the entire course before you've built it. You stumble. You re-record. You lose momentum. By Lesson 3, you're second-guessing your outline.

What if you recorded in a completely different sequence?

Start with the lesson you could teach without notes โ€” the one where you're just talking through something you know deeply. Record that first. Then record the lesson that naturally follows from the energy of the first one. Build outward, not linearly.

When you record in the right order:

  • Each lesson is easier because you just finished one that builds into it

  • Your confidence compounds instead of draining

  • You stop re-recording because you're not starting cold every time

  • You finish faster because there's no "blank page" moment after the intro

This is what I built the Recording Order Workbook around. It's a simple system: map your course, find your starting point, sequence your recordings for momentum, and ship.

Not a course about courses. A workbook you open, fill in, and use to record your actual lessons this week.

If you've got a course sitting at 30% done, you probably don't need more motivation. You need a better recording sequence.
