Welcome to Scam Shield — Here's How to Get Started

Thanks for joining Scam Shield. You've made a smart move.

Here's what you now have access to:

šŸ›”ļø Your Safety Toolkit

The tools in this kit are designed for one moment: when something feels urgent and you're not sure if it's real. Instead of reacting, you'll have a simple process to slow down and check.

šŸ’¬ Safety Community

Head to the community chat to connect with others, share suspicious messages you've received, and get a second opinion before acting.

šŸ“¢ Scam Alerts & Updates

This feed is where I post new scam patterns as they appear — fake prize texts, phishing calls, investment traps. Check in regularly so you know what to watch for.

Your first step: Drop a hello in the Safety Community chat. You're not alone in this.

The 3-Second Rule That Stops Most Scams

Every scam has one thing in common: urgency.

"Act now or lose your refund." "Claim your prize before midnight." "Your account will be locked in 24 hours."

They need you to move fast — because if you stop and think, the trick falls apart.

Here's a rule I teach that's embarrassingly simple but works almost every time:

When a message makes you feel rushed, count to three and ask one question: "Would a real company need me to do this right now?"

The answer is almost always no.

  • Your bank won't lock your account if you call back tomorrow.

  • A real prize doesn't expire in 30 minutes.

  • The government doesn't send refunds through gift cards.

That 3-second pause breaks the emotional grip. It gives your brain time to switch from "react" mode to "check" mode.

I built Scam Shield to help people — especially older adults who get targeted with polished, convincing messages — turn that pause into a full safety routine. Simple tools. No tech jargon. Just a system that works when doubt kicks in.

If you or someone you know has ever had that "wait, is this real?" moment, this is for you.
