The math most resellers get wrong on Vinted/Depop/eBay

Most people flipping on Vinted, Depop, and eBay track "profit" as sale price minus what they paid. That number lies to you.

Here's the real formula: sale price − item cost − platform fee − shipping − time cost.

Time cost is the one nobody tracks. If a listing takes you 15 minutes to research, photograph, write, and price — and it sells for a £6 profit — you just made £24/hour before fees. If it takes an hour for the same £6, you made £6/hour. Same "profit," completely different business.

The resellers who scale past a side hustle are the ones who start treating sourcing and listing as a throughput problem, not a treasure-hunt problem. A few things that moved the needle for us building Vendora:

  1. Batch your research. Don't price-check one item at a time — pull sold comps for a whole haul in one pass.

  2. Templatize your listing copy. Same category = same structure (condition callouts, measurements, styling notes). AI is genuinely good at this now — write once, adapt fast.

  3. Track profit per hour, not per item. It changes which categories you actually want to keep sourcing.

We built Vendora because we were doing all of this manually in spreadsheets and it didn't scale. Happy to answer questions on sourcing/listing workflows either way.
