Why 90% of brand videos get scrolled past (and how to fix it)
Most brand videos fail in the first 0.5 seconds. Not because the product is bad — because the edit is forgettable.
After editing hundreds of projects across e-commerce, tech, personal brands, and agencies, here's what separates the videos that convert from the ones that get ignored:
Motion > Static. If your first frame isn't moving, you've already lost. Kinetic typography, camera shake, subtle zoom — anything that creates visual tension.
Sound design is half the edit. Most people treat audio as an afterthought. The right bass hit on a transition or a satisfying whoosh on a text reveal makes people feel the content.
Pacing kills or creates attention. The average watch time on short-form is 3-7 seconds. Every cut needs to earn the next second. If you're holding a shot for more than 2 seconds without movement, you're bleeding viewers.
Color grading is branding. A consistent color grade across all your content makes your brand recognizable before people even read your name. Pick a palette. Commit to it.
This is what we obsess over at Centurion Media Studios — premium editing and motion design that makes brands impossible to scroll past.
If your content isn't converting, it's probably not a strategy problem. It's a production problem.
