3 Bankroll Management Rules That Separate Winners From Losers
Most sports bettors lose money. Not because they can't pick winners — but because they can't manage their money.
After years of profitable betting, here are the 3 rules I live by:
1. The 1-3% Rule
Never risk more than 1-3% of your total bankroll on a single bet. If you have $1,000, your max bet is $30. Even the best cappers hit 55-60% long-term. You WILL have losing streaks — the question is whether you survive them.
2. Flat Betting > Unit Scaling
Forget "5-unit max plays." The moment you start scaling units based on confidence, you're introducing emotion into math. Flat bet everything. A 56% win rate at -110 odds prints money — as long as it's consistent.
3. Track Everything
If you're not tracking every single bet — sport, line, odds, result — you're flying blind. Tracking forces accountability and shows you where you're actually profitable vs. bleeding money.

These rules won't make you rich overnight. But they'll keep you in the game long enough for your edge to compound.
