Why we built two AI products instead of one 'do everything' tool
Most AI SaaS founders try to build one horizontal tool that does everything for everyone. We went the opposite direction at TechTack — two narrow, deep products for two specific workflows.
Magic Circle is domain AI for law firms and professional services. It plugs into your firm's document repositories and helps teams cut through discovery, contract review, and research — the stuff that eats billable hours but doesn't need a human brain for every pass. Security was the hard part: sensitive legal data can't leave a sandboxed instance, so that's the whole architecture.
Voice is the opposite problem — small, fast, high-frequency. Meetings and calls generate hours of audio nobody has time to review. It turns that into searchable notes automatically.
The lesson so far: vertical AI tools solving one expensive, specific problem convert better than horizontal ones trying to be everything. If you're building AI software, pick the narrowest wedge where the pain is most acute — that's where people actually pay.
Happy to answer questions on either product or on building focused AI tools in general.
