In 1911, Leo J. Wahl discovered the electromagnetic motor and developed a medical massager for his Uncle J. Frank Wahl as a student. He then began making it at his small plant in Sterling, Illinois (USA). Leo Wahl began selling his invention to barbershops and realized that hairdressing tools could be improved with this motor. In 1919, he took over the business and founded the Wahl Clipper Corporation. The company has always been in the hair care industry. Wahl begins production of its first universal rotary motor hair clippers. After that, Wahl installs into a powerful pet clipper.
