Your wearable recovery score is probably lying to you

Whoop, Oura, and Garmin all compute "recovery" differently — different HRV windows, different baselines, different weighting of sleep vs strain. That's why you can wake up feeling like a truck hit you and see a 91% recovery on one app while another says 62%.

The fix isn't picking "the right" wearable. It's building your own recovery score from the raw data (HRV, RHR, sleep stages, temp deviation) so you get one number that's actually consistent to YOU over time — not an opaque black-box algorithm that changes its mind every firmware update.

That's exactly what we teach inside Recovery Score Lab: a plug-and-play automation stack that pulls your raw wearable data into one dashboard, plus the tools list and troubleshooting guide to keep it running.

Your wearable recovery score is probably lying to you

Whoop says 62%. Oura says 71%. Garmin's "Body Battery" says something else entirely. If you wear more than one device (or switched recently), you've felt this: three "recovery scores," zero consensus, and no idea whether to train or rest today.

Here's the actual problem — each brand's score is a black box tuned to its own sensor quirks and its own definition of "recovery." None of them are wrong, they're just not talking to each other. The fix isn't picking the "best" wearable. It's building one normalized dashboard that pulls raw HRV, RHR, and sleep stage data directly from each device's API/export, weights it the way YOU want (I weight HRV trend + sleep debt heaviest, RHR as a confirmation signal), and spits out one number you actually trust.

I've spent the last year building exactly that — an automation stack (Whoop/Oura/Garmin/Apple Health → one dashboard), a tools list of what's actually worth paying for, and a troubleshooting doc for the sync failures that inevitably happen (token expiry is the #1 killer, not the integration itself).
