5 Things Every Couple Gets Wrong When Planning Their Wedding
I've coordinated over a hundred weddings, and the same mistakes come up every single time. Here's what to avoid:
1. Booking the venue before setting a budget.
You fall in love with a place, put down a deposit, and suddenly 40% of your budget is gone before you've even thought about catering. Always set your total number first.
2. Underestimating the timeline.
Most couples think 6 months is plenty. For a stress-free experience, 10-12 months is the sweet spot. Anything under 4 months and you're in rush-fee territory.
3. Not having a day-of coordinator.
Your maid of honor is not a coordinator. Your mom is not a coordinator. Having someone whose only job is logistics on the actual day is the single biggest upgrade you can make.
4. Ignoring vendor meal counts.
Your photographer, DJ, and coordinator all need to eat. Budget for 5-8 extra meals. Small cost, avoids an awkward situation.
5. Trying to please everyone.
It's your day. Uncle Steve's opinion on the centerpieces doesn't matter. Make decisions that reflect you as a couple, not a committee.
