The thing no one tells you about healing after divorce

Everyone talks about the logistics. The lawyers. The custody schedule. Who gets the house.

Nobody talks about the 11pm version of you.

The one lying in bed googling "why do I still feel broken" while your kids sleep down the hall. The one who held it together at school drop-off and fell apart in the car park. The one who's done therapy, read the books, tried the affirmations — and still feels like something fundamental is wrong with her.

Nothing is wrong with you.

What's happening is your nervous system is stuck in survival mode. Your body is still living in the marriage even though you left. And no amount of journaling or positive thinking can reach what lives below your conscious mind.

That's where somatic work comes in. That's where neuroscience meets the soul stuff — not to bypass the pain, but to actually move through it.

Three things that shifted everything for me:

1. Your body keeps the score (literally)

Trauma doesn't live in your thoughts. It lives in your jaw, your shoulders, your gut. Until you address the body, your mind will keep looping the same stories.

2. Guilt is not evidence that you're failing your kids

It's evidence that you love them. The mums who don't care don't feel guilty. Your guilt is actually your motivation to heal — use it.

3. You don't need to be "over it" to move forward

Healing isn't linear and it's not a destination. It's learning to hold both — the grief and the growth — without breaking.

If any of this landed, Meraki is where I do this work with women every single week. Somatic healing, nervous system regulation, Ho'oponopono practice, and a private community of women who actually understand.

No woo without the science. No science without the soul.
