The 3-step method that gets beginners speaking a new language in 30 days
Most people spend months memorizing vocabulary lists and grammar tables before they ever open their mouth. That's backwards.
Here's what actually works if you're starting from zero:
Step 1: Learn the 100 most-used words first.
Every language has ~100 words that make up 50% of daily conversation. Don't waste time on obscure vocabulary. Nail these first and you can already understand half of what people say.
Step 2: Shadow native speakers for 15 minutes a day.
Find a YouTube video or podcast in your target language. Listen to a sentence, pause, repeat it out loud — matching the rhythm, tone, and speed. This trains your ear AND your mouth at the same time.
Step 3: Have a 5-minute conversation every single day.
It doesn't matter if it's broken. Talk to a tutor, a language partner, or even yourself in the mirror. The gap between "studying" and "speaking" is where most people quit. Don't be that person.
I built WordLock Academy around this exact framework. Structured courses that focus on real conversation, not textbook fluff. Plus live sessions with teachers who actually speak the language natively.
If you're tired of apps that make you drag and drop words but never actually help you talk to real humans — this is different.
