In this hands-on project you build a Python tool that turns any script into a natural-sounding voice file and, at the same time, a subtitle file (.srt) and a word-timing file - so your captions land exactly when each word is spoken. Use Microsoft’s free online voices, or a voice that runs completely offline on your own PC.

What you’ll build

• make_voice.py: text or a script file in, voice file + captions out
• Voice, speed and language choices, with a searchable voice list
• An offline engine (Kokoro) that needs no internet at all
• A preview page that plays the voice with the captions on screen
