I built a tool that gives you real-time English subtitles on Chinese livestreams
If you've ever tried to watch a Chinese streamer — maybe a Bilibili gaming session, a Douyin cooking stream, or a Taobao live sale — you know the pain. Auto-translate is garbage. Browser plugins clip the chat. And by the time you paste something into Google Translate, the moment's gone.
So I built Xitik.
It's a tiny Windows desktop app that sits on top of any livestream and generates real-time AI subtitles. You hear Chinese, you read English (or Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese). Sub-5-second latency. No browser extension. No overlay that blocks the chat.
How it works:
Audio → speech recognition → neural translation → rendered captions
Runs locally on your machine, streams only audio data to our ASR servers
Works with any platform: Bilibili, Douyin, Taobao Live, Xiaohongshu, Kuaishou — anything with audio
Why I built it:
I'm a fan of Chinese content creators and got tired of waiting for fan-subs that never come. The live experience is completely different from watching a clipped VOD three days later. I wanted to actually be there.
Free tier gives you 15 min/day to try it out. No credit card needed.
