The 3 things I'd do differently if I had to restart my YouTube channels from scratch

I run multiple YouTube channels. Some have done really well. Others flopped before I figured things out.

If I had to start over today with nothing but what I know now, here's exactly what I'd change:

1. I'd stop chasing trends and start building a content system.

Most small creators waste months reacting to whatever's viral. The channels that actually grow are the ones with a repeatable format — same structure, same hook style, same editing rhythm. You become recognizable. The algorithm rewards consistency, not creativity.

2. I'd focus on CTR and retention before anything else.

Forget about SEO hacks and hashtag tricks. YouTube cares about two things: do people click, and do they stay? If your thumbnail is mid, nobody clicks. If your first 30 seconds are boring, nobody stays. I'd spend 50% of my time on thumbnails and intros alone.

3. I'd monetize from day one — not just with AdSense.

AdSense is a bonus, not a business. I'd have a product or community from the start. Even at 1K subscribers, if you've built something real, people will pay for access. Waiting until you're "big enough" is the biggest mistake I see creators make.

This is literally the playbook I teach inside YouTube Growth Academy — the exact system behind my channels. If you're in that 1K-10K range and ready to actually go full-time, come check it out.
