“The press test is over. Have all the customer’s fixtures gone back?”
You want to answer, but finishing a test doesn’t tell you what was handed back. Keeping every fixture and handover in your head is a lot to ask.
The Press Test Fixture Return Checklist gives returns their own place in Excel. Use one workbook per customer test and one row per individually identifiable, reusable fixture. Enter fixture details from the item and source records, receipt details and any agreed return date. When it goes back, add the return date and handover reference to that row.
“I added the return date. Why does this still need checking?”
A date alone isn’t enough: the handover reference matters too. Filter for fixtures needing return checks, find the paperwork or ask whoever handled the handover. Checks remain separate from whether the test ended or was cancelled.
The sheet flags entries needing attention and tells you what to check. Follow up, update the original row and review the result against the fixture and source documents. Then you can reply: “These fixtures have return records; I’m checking the handover for this one.”
“Could you make something like this for the way we work?”
