“The machine is finished. How many of the customer’s parts can we return?”
The assembly records and your remaining-parts count need to agree before you can answer. Keeping track of every part and lot takes some checking.
This Excel workbook helps reconcile customer-supplied parts for one customer and one custom machine project. Enter totals by part and lot, your physical count, and supporting record references. It subtracts installed parts, parts actually disposed of with approval, and parts already returned from receipts, then compares the expected balance with your count.
“The quantities match. Are we done?”
A zero difference isn’t the whole check. The workbook also flags missing supporting information, such as a disposal approval reference, and duplicate part-and-lot entries. The reasons shown help you choose which records to check next.
Filter entries needing attention, check the records and parts, and correct the original inputs as needed. The balance and status update so you can review the result. Then discuss the remaining parts with the customer and confirm their agreement before return or disposal.
For one user on Windows 11 with Microsoft 365 desktop Excel; quantities must be whole numbers.
“Could you make something like this for the way we work?”
