Why most 'marketplace' listings die in the first 48 hours (and how to fix it)

I've been building ZH, a marketplace for houses and cars, and the biggest thing I've learned watching listings live and die: most sellers treat the listing like a classifieds ad instead of a pitch.

A few patterns that separate listings that get real inquiries from ones that get ignored:

1. Price signals trust. A round, lazy number ($20,000 flat) reads as untested. A specific number ($18,750) reads as "I did the math." Buyers notice.

2. Photos in the first hour matter more than photos on day 5. Whatever platform you're on, the algorithm (and buyer attention) rewards freshness. Don't list "coming soon" — list when the photos are ready.

3. Say why you're selling. One sentence. "Relocating for work," "upgrading to a truck," "downsizing." It kills the "what's wrong with it" hesitation before it starts.

4. Respond in the first 10 minutes or lose the lead. Cars and houses are impulse-adjacent purchases even at high price points — people ask 5 sellers at once and buy from whoever replies first with a real answer, not "let me check."

Built ZH because I got tired of watching agents and independent dealers get buried in fees on the big platforms just to reach buyers who are already looking. If you list houses or cars for a living, come kick the tires — flat monthly fee, no per-listing charges, no commission cut.
