The 150k oil change that kills good Toyotas

Most people don't wreck a Camry. They starve it.

At 120–180k, shops start pitching $4k "timing jobs" and $800 "flushes" on cars that need three cheap things done on time:

  1. Coolant — Toyota pink / super long life, not generic green. Cheap coolant eats the water pump and then the head gasket.

  2. Transmission fluid — drain and fill, not a power flush. A flush on an untouched 160k U140/U250 is how you get metal in the pan.

  3. Valve cover gasket / PCV — oil in the spark plug wells is why a "perfect" 4-cylinder starts misfiring at 140k.

If your odometer is in that window and you wrench in the driveway, those three jobs are the difference between 200k and a trade-in.

Mileage-by-mileage. Not dealer-menu.
