“AI is a crutch.”
I’ve heard this a lot.
And honestly?
If you’re using AI to do your thinking for you…
I agree.
But that’s not how I believe students should use AI.
There’s a huge difference between:
❌ “Give me the answer.”
and
✅ “Help me understand.”
One creates dependency.
The other creates understanding.
When AI becomes a shortcut, learning stops.
When AI becomes a tutor, learning accelerates.
The best students aren’t using AI to avoid effort.
They’re using AI to direct their effort more effectively.
They’re asking:
📚 “Explain this in simpler terms.”
🧠 “Ask me questions until I understand.”
✍️ “Test me on this topic.”
🎯 “Show me where my reasoning breaks down.”
That’s not cheating.
That’s active learning.
The goal was never to replace thinking.
The goal is to improve it.
Because at the end of the day:
AI isn’t the crutch.
Avoiding thinking is.
Use AI to challenge your understanding.
Not to replace it.
