The 3 productivity systems that actually work with ADHD (not against it)
I've been an entrepreneur with ADHD for years, and I've tried every productivity system out there. Pomodoro, GTD, time blocking, bullet journaling — you name it, I bought the course.
Most of them made me feel worse. They're built for neurotypical brains that can just... decide to focus.
Here's what actually works when your brain fights structure:
1. The "Next Action" Rule
Stop making to-do lists with 47 items. Your ADHD brain sees that and shuts down. Instead: at any moment, you only need to know ONE thing — what's the very next physical action? Not "work on project" but "open the doc and write the first sentence." That's it. One action at a time.
2. Body Doubling (even virtually)
This one sounds weird but it's neuroscience. Having another person present — even silently on a video call — activates your accountability circuits. I get 3x more done when I'm working "alongside" someone else. Find a co-working buddy or join a virtual session.
3. Energy Mapping > Time Blocking
Time blocking fails because ADHD energy isn't predictable by the clock. Instead, map your tasks to energy levels. High-energy tasks (creative work, client calls) go in your peak windows. Low-energy tasks (email, admin) go in your valleys. Stop fighting your natural rhythm.
The secret isn't more discipline. It's better systems that account for how your brain actually works.
I built FocusFlow around these exact principles — courses, tools, and a community for ADHD entrepreneurs who are done pretending their brain works like everyone else's.
