The 3 biggest mistakes doctors make when adding aesthetics to their practice

I've helped dozens of physicians and dentists launch aesthetic services. The ones who struggle always make the same mistakes.

1. Starting with too many services.

You don't need Botox, fillers, microneedling, PDO threads, and a laser on day one. Pick ONE injectable and get exceptional at it. Botox is the move — high demand, low complication rate, fast results. Master the consultation and injection technique before expanding.

2. Underpricing to "attract patients."

Your existing patients already trust you. You don't need to compete with Groupon med spas. Price at the market rate or above — your clinical expertise IS the differentiator. Discounting signals inexperience to the exact patients you want.

3. Skipping hands-on training.

Weekend certifications and watching YouTube aren't enough. You need structured, mentor-guided practice with real feedback on your technique. Anatomy knowledge from med school is a foundation, not a finish line.

If you're a physician or dentist considering adding aesthetics, these are the pitfalls to avoid. Get the fundamentals right and the revenue follows.
