The 3 Tajweed mistakes almost every beginner makes

I've been teaching Quran recitation for years and I see the same three patterns over and over with new students.

1. Rushing through heavy letters (Tafkheem)

Letters like ص, ض, ط, ظ need fullness in pronunciation. Most beginners treat them like their lighter counterparts. The difference between ط and ت can change the entire meaning of a word.

2. Ignoring Ghunnah duration

The nasal sound on noon and meem saakinah isn't optional — it's measured. Two counts. Not one, not three. Getting this right transforms your recitation from "reading" to actually performing Tajweed.

3. Stopping in the wrong places (Waqf)

Stopping mid-ayah at the wrong point can completely alter the meaning. Learning the stop signs (ۚ ۖ ۗ) is as important as learning the letters themselves.

The good news? All three are fixable with focused 1-on-1 practice. That's exactly what we do at Ahl al-Quran Academy — personalized sessions for kids and adults at every level.
