The 3 Wedding Timeline Mistakes That Make Planners Look Amateur
I've reviewed hundreds of wedding timelines from coordinators at every level, and the same three mistakes keep showing up:
1. Not building in buffer time for photos.
Most planners give 60 minutes for couple + family portraits. You need 90 minimum — and 120 if the venue has multiple locations. When photos run over, the cocktail hour stretches awkwardly and dinner gets pushed.
2. Treating the "getting ready" window as fixed.
Hair and makeup always runs long. Always. Build in a 30-minute cushion and tell the beauty team the ceremony is 30 minutes earlier than it actually is. Your future self will thank you.
3. Forgetting vendor load-out in the timeline.
The DJ needs 45 minutes to break down. The florist needs to collect rentals. The photographer might stay for sparkler exit. If you don't account for this, you'll have vendors awkwardly lingering or rushing out mid-event.
These aren't "nice to know" — they're the difference between a wedding that flows and one that feels chaotic.
I built Aisle Ready specifically to help planners avoid these gaps. Every template has buffer time, vendor load-out, and getting-ready cushions baked in by default.
