Why Your Apartment Puppy Keeps Having Accidents (It's Not a Training Problem)
Most apartment puppy owners think indoor accidents mean they need more training. More commands. More treats. More YouTube videos.
But here's what I've seen over and over: the puppy already knows where to go. The owner just keeps missing the window.
Think about your typical morning. Puppy wakes up. You stumble to the kitchen, start coffee, check your phone. Maybe 10-15 minutes pass. By the time you grab the leash, clip it on, wait for the elevator, walk through the lobby — it's been 20+ minutes since your puppy's bladder said "now."
That's not a training failure. That's a scheduling failure.
The apartment problem is unique. You don't have a backyard door you can crack open. Every potty trip requires shoes, leash, elevator, hallway, lobby, door. That's 3-5 minutes minimum between "let's go" and grass. A house owner covers that distance in 8 seconds.
So the question isn't "how do I train my puppy better?" It's "how do I time my day so I never miss the window?"
Here's the pattern most owners miss:
After every meal, your puppy needs to go within 15-30 minutes. After every nap, immediately. After play, within 5-10 minutes. After a big water session, within 20 minutes.
If you're not tracking those events, you're guessing. And guessing in an apartment — where every trip takes 5 minutes of logistics — means you're always 5 minutes late.
The fix isn't more training. It's a visible daily schedule that connects wake-up → meals → water → play → naps → potty into one obvious rhythm. When you can see the whole day mapped out, the "right time to go outside" becomes self-evident.
That's what I built the Apartment Puppy Potty Training Schedule around. Not commands. Not tricks. Just a timing system built for apartment life.
If your puppy's had more than 2 accidents this week, the schedule is the first thing to fix.
