Why Most Retail Traders Lose Money (And How to Actually Fix It)
Most retail traders don't blow up because of a bad strategy — they blow up because of three fixable gaps:
1. No hard definition of risk before entry.
If you can't state your stop-loss and position size in dollars BEFORE you click buy, you don't have a risk plan — you have a hope. Every trade should have a max-loss number decided in advance, sized to a fixed % of account equity (most pros use 0.5-1%).
2. No trading journal.
You can't fix what you don't measure. Win rate, R-multiple, setup type, and your emotional state at entry/exit — log all four on every trade. After 30 trades, patterns emerge that no strategy tweak will show you as fast as your own data will.
3. No recovery protocol after a loss.
Revenge trading kills more accounts than bad setups do. The fix isn't willpower — it's a mechanical rule: after 2 consecutive losses, you stop trading for the rest of the session. No exceptions, no "just one more."
None of this requires a better indicator. It requires a system you follow when you don't feel like it.
We built Apex Trading Lab around exactly this — a 21-lesson, rules-based curriculum covering risk management, technical systems, and the psychology/discipline side most courses skip. If you're tired of guessing, take a look.
