3. Ignoring future needs. That open loft is cool now. In 5 years with kids, you'll wish it was a bedroom. Good architecture anticipates change.

4. Confusing style with structure. Pinterest boards are great for finishes, but the bones of your house — load paths, mechanical routing, natural light — that's what makes a home feel right.

5. Waiting too long to involve a professional. The earlier an architect gets involved, the more money you save. Redesigning after permits is expensive.
