F-1 applicants: the interview is not where most people lose
Most first-time F-1 refusals are not because the interview went badly. They are because the file was already weak before anyone sat down.
If you are applying for an F-1 and you do not have one yet, lock these three things before you book the consulate:
A real program. I-20 from a SEVP school, matching the program you actually intend to attend. A random school you cannot explain is a 214(b) waiting to happen.
Ties you can prove, not ties you can describe. Property, family, a job or a course of study at home — in documents, not in a speech.
Money that matches the I-20. Bank statements, sponsor letters, and a story that adds up. If the numbers do not survive a 60-second look, neither will you.
The interview is a check. The application is the work.
Ash&Dani is building a course and PDF pack for this exact path — first-time F-1 applicants, not people already in the US on OPT. Join the waitlist if you want the full breakdown when it ships.
