Why we stopped manually posting for clients (and what replaced it)

We used to manually post for every client. Not anymore. Here's the order we automated things in, and why it worked:

  1. Posting first. The highest-leverage, lowest-risk thing to automate. AI-generated posts tailored to each platform (Instagram, X, LinkedIn) go out on schedule without anyone touching a dashboard.

  1. Comment replies second. Once posting was stable, we layered in auto-reply bots for comments — keeping engagement warm without a human refreshing notifications all day.

  1. DM triage third. DMs are higher-stakes (leads, complaints, partnerships), so we automated triage — routing and drafting responses — only after comment replies were proven reliable.

  1. Content calendars last. With posting and engagement handled, monthly content calendars became a planning layer on top, not a bottleneck underneath.

The lesson: automate in order of leverage vs. risk. Posting is low-risk/high-leverage — start there. DMs are higher-stakes — automate them once you trust the system.
